Was talking music with Mike from The Water Spots today and we were talking about how we wish we could experience our own band at least once just as a fan.
It would be great to be in the audience for one of our shows.
That sounds equally narcissistic and physics-challenged.
But it also makes sense.
Of course you’re going to love the band you play in.
That’s the band you would love to catch.
One of the bands I wish I could have seen was 2000’s-era Bigfellas.
We turned piano based music into a frenzy that is rare outside of early Ben Folds Five.
Shay always pressed the pedal to the metal (figuratively and literally) no matter what.
And no idea was too stupid; and for a group that didn’t like punk, we relished playing songs who’s reach sometimes exceeded our grasp.
Which makes for a perfect into to our dopey version of Led Zeppelin, "Immmigrant Song".
Here it is below.
Makes me happy to watch and remember Shay Bell of course, but also Shaun and Bill and the audience that would turn Desi’s in San Diego into the place to be.
No offense to Desi’s, but that is a tall order but we did it.
